Was just wondering if any of you could come up with any bright ideas for me please!
I have dealt with cats with inappropriate elimination but not really dogs apart from puppy training!
Basically a client at work has a 2year 6month old

Re: Help please with dog toileting in house....

What a lil monkey!! I've had him since a pup, he took to house training really quickly and only had a handful of accidents in the house.

Occasionally, he will defecate in the house at night instead of asking me to go out. He asks me to go out to wee in the night though! Sometimes during the day i'll think he hasn't been for a wee for a while, i'll go ask him and he's so full he has wee dripping out(!!) and he suddenly remembers he needs to wee, but he's too blimming lazy to get up from his comfy spot without me telling him!!

So, all medical issues ruled out. I'd say he's a boy and a JRT! To stop my dog going inside over night I make him go out last thing before bed, sometimes before bed I ask him if he needs a weewee and he runs in the opposite direction meaning no! but I make him go out and 9 times out of 10 he'll do something.

If she hasn't already she should put a word to the action so that he will go on command. I tell my dog 'weewees' and he stands on 3 legs, even if he doesn't need to pee

With your client she may need to go back to crate training, out to the toilet last thing at night, then into his crate for the night. Make sure she feeds him his main meal early in the day, or if he's a grazer take the food up a few hours before bed so he isn't needing to defecate during the night. If he's going during the day then she should go back to taking him out every time he wakes up,plays etc etc and every 1-2hrs, and actually taking him out to make sure he is going rather than sending him out

I love my JRT to bits, but he's SUCH a boy and will do anything for an easy life!
