My dog drags one of his hind legs due to different lenghted legs.
I tried numerous products but as the park is a five minute walk away nothing lasts! So now I put a boot on and a drip bag, otherwise we'd being going through a boot a day.

Re: Help!!!
slept on this last night and wondered if the following would be a solution?

make a good fitting, comfortable boot as you would normally use and then add a zimmer splint /alumafoam foot external to this. I think if your dog isnt that heavy and if you use the broad splint to make your form this would work. Make sure all sharp edges are well filed and fit on the outside of the boot - If you think along the same lines as the base of a thomas extension splint I dont think you will go far wrong. Splint doesnt need to be in close contact with the toes thats not its purpose - its purpose is an extension to the boot to protect the toes and foot.

zimmer splint alumafoam splint is available from most wholessalers, easily formable to whatever you need and more importantly is very light and durable.

I reckon with a bit of ingenuity you could come up with a really good prosthetic at a low cost ( but just remember who gave you the idea when you go into production and make your milions )

I've found an old alumafoam splint at work, I'm going to bring home tonight and have a play!

£65 for a 'Toe -up' - for use in knuckling in hind paws. Ooh not bad I thought, but as Larry's knuckling is caused by leg lengths, I enquired about this -

You can get neoprene boots as well, maybe you could glue some leather or something more hard wearing to the bit he needs protecting?? I think JAK do them or veterinary instrumentation.

www.dogbootsactive.com do custom made boots for disabled dogs, possibly get a quote from them? They are American but ship world wide, they do double sided boots for dogs who drag their feet.
We live a few minutes walk from the park (I don't drive and carrying Larry is no longer an option for more then a very short while!!) and most materials just can not withstand pavement. I also want to build him up to two daily trips to the park and back.

I am going to look into trying Caro's idea and see if I can get a liitle set of wheels that I can attach to his paw while on pavement, but then remove once in the park.

I also think I may sadly own an old pair of leather trousers in the back of the wardrobe (I swear they were fashionable at one point, I'm not a weirdo!), and try patches of these as you suggested.

Re: Help!!!
Hi have you tried the Ruffwear boots? They are walking boots for dogs! (designed for sledding dogs running on rough ground). used them for my beast when he had a cut pad instead of dressings when he went out. They r pricy but very hard wearing!! Use a baby sock as a liner- much cheaper that their liners. Check out wwwsnowpawstore.co.uk for their range of boots etc. Also the have a whole ton of awesome stuff!!
I havn't tried them, but I don't think they would work either!

Larry favours his short leg, which then in turn pushes the over foot over, which means most boots are useless as padding is on the underside.

I'm not oppossed to paying out, but need recommendations +++ as we've been through so many and i'm only on a VN wage!!!

Same goes with referral to bionic vet people- Larry was sick when I got him, so not insured - again happy to pay out if know it will work....(!)

Re: Help!!!
