We sterlize our Intubease nozzels after every use because we have a very high number of FIV and FeLV cats in the wild cat population which are infecting our pet cats. We would not be doing our job properly if we were infecting pet cats through contaminated equipment so sterlizing is the way to go. Some times gunk does get on the nozzel so we as a matter of habit sterlize everything between cats

Do you sterilise you Intubeaze nozzles between cats?

I have been taught to since day one, and I must admit that after watching vets spray the larynx, most of them manage to touch the nozzle to some gum/manky teeth/larynx/general cat in the process

So, because of this I am firmly of the opinion that the nozzles should be sterilised between cats. I've found they autoclave pretty well, but meddis, novasapa or milton work well too if they tend to melt

Am I the only nozzle sterilser on vet nurse? Surely not!

We try and clean the masks too - usually a good soak and scrub in trigene, and then a good rinse. We also soak / scrub as far as possible the circuits once a week on a Friday - therefore giving them lots of time to drain before Monday morning And personally I try and leave at least one circuit dry and ready for use for emergencies - usually the ADE as that covers all sizes.... but then that needs washing too sometimes!

Re: Intubeaze Nozzles!

Yes, I take the nozzles off as soon as the vets have sprayed the cats, so the vets can't use them on the next patient, and replace with a new one-we have loads of spares, they are then washed and autoclaved.
