&lt;p&gt;VPIS has had very few cases of reported ingestions of cucumber by hamsters or, indeed, other rodents. There appear to be no reports of significant toxicity arising from ingestion in the peer-reviewed published literature.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I would agree with the general comments about moderation. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As Paracelsus is widely reported to have commented - there is nothing that is not poisonous,&amp;nbsp;it is just the dose that determines whether something is toxic. (I&amp;#39;m not translating exactly from the original!)&lt;/p&gt;
