Birds??</title><link>https://www.vetnurse.co.uk/thread/95239?ContentTypeID=1</link><pubDate>Thu, 02 Sep 2010 16:38:04 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">1a0763ec-3885-442c-853e-6cef656dfec5:c183de16-f7f6-46e5-9b27-0628a4bf51c0</guid><dc:creator>Vanessa Butler</dc:creator><description>&lt;p&gt;If this lady has an infestation then she needs to treat the animals regularly and also use an insecticide in the house such as Indorex (8 week adult kill and 1 year larval stage kill).&amp;nbsp; We always advise that birds should be removed from the room while the treatment is being done.&amp;nbsp; I advise spray, have the windows and doors closed for 30 minutes afterwards and then ventilate for 1 hour and then everyone can go back in the room, pets included.&amp;nbsp; The active ingredients of Indorex are very dense and so fall downwards with gravity, the ventialtion is mainly advised to remove the aerosol carrier and slight smell.&amp;nbsp; If there are fish then if in a small bowl they can be removed but if in a large tank turn off the pump before spraying and place 2 blankets over the top of the tank and then turn back on after the 1 hour of ventilation.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I remember a call from a client who had their local pet control people in and they used a product that they told her was safe around birds and fish.....she moved the birds out anyway because she was paranoid about them but left the fish where they were. A couple of days later all the fish were dead, there was no definitive link between the two, but mighty coincidence....??? She was very pleased to have moved the birds out whilst it was being done, she brought them back home after a week and they were fine. &lt;/p&gt;

I did have to help a friend who had recently moved into a rental flat - she didnt have birds but fish. we minimised the amount we sprayed in rooms by bagging as much as we could in black bags - spraying inside the bags, sealing for 24hours and opening them outside on the balcony and leaving them to air for as long as we could. It did minimise how much went into the room but it was still necs to treat the room.
