could anyone confirm the legal situation with unqualified and unregistered trainees working as if they were qualified VNs. Our VNAC says it's techinically illegal. Is this right and if so how come so many practices get away with it? Would appreciate any info. x

I fully support this campaign! You don't see any other profession calling unqualified or trainee people by their qualified title and the title veterinary nurse should be reserved for listed/registered nurses only. All other members of staff should be called vna's. I know this might be an unpopular move with some members of vet nurse but its one of the ways that the job will become to be seen to be a profession and its unfair that people who have not studied for the qualification should be able to use the title. The RCVS should really write to all practices reminding them of this and it should be a legal requirement that staff are named accordingly. Good luck Nick! x
