There have been several cases where people have fraudulently registered as veterinary surgeons – there was one this month, in fact: www.rcvs.org.uk/.../Internal.asp

Time will tell whether similar cases come up concerning veterinary nurses.

On the question of professional indemnity insurance, the VDS is not the only provider of this service to veterinary surgeons: about 20% of vets use other suppliers, such as Sun Alliance. So it is likely that other suppliers will be able to provide such insurance for VNs too.

Cheers

Lizzie

I still think that personally this hasn't been thought through well enough because there is going to be the issue associated with Professional Indemnity insurance which us mere nurses are going to have to carry for ourtselves from 2010....the main issue being that there is only ONE company that recognises what VN's do. Both the BVNA and RCVS have suggesed to contact local insurance companies and tell them what we want and they should be able to sort a policy out to cover us. ????WHAT!!!!! there is NO ONE!!! Well done guys for thinking this one thru!

How likely?
