I would worry if it becomes vet only that owners will decide not to worm they're pet as they can't afford vet fees impacting on the animal's health.

I do agree that the people recommending and dispensing these medications must be qualified. I can't believe vet nurse can't prescribe/recommend meds when someone in a pet shop can!

Could there not be a category for Qualified RVN's to dispenseanthelmintics instead of Pet Shop and Agricultural Shop SQP's if this may be the problem.

Surely RVN's are taught more about parasitology in their nursing course and its easier to check with a vet on the premises than shop sqp's

I agree the SQP qualification will be pointless.

No wonder. Co-incidently I am looking at all the products available (for my own information) and I'm confused,so goodness only knows how a client feels!!!
