I fear many will have to drop out as there are not the placements for them while there are many practices exploiting the first year students getting them to work for nothing.

The NVQ was not abolished by the government it is still being taught in other professional subjects. Our qualification as I understand it was up for review and the new qualification was adopted primarily on a funding issue if I understand it correctly, whilst the NVQ for others may also disappear in the future this was not the reason for the new qualification.
